- Begin by rinsing 1 cup of long-grain white rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. Drain well and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter or heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the rinsed rice and sauté for about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of chicken broth (or vegetable broth) along with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Stir in 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1 teaspoon of paprika.
- Increase heat until it comes to a rolling boil. Then reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for about 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
