  • 12-16 oz fresh green beans trimmed
  • 3 tbsp water
For the Sauce
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce use tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar or white wine/apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar or honey or maple syrup/brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
Aromatics
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
Finishing Touch
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Trim the ends of the green beans, rinse under cold water and pat dry.
  2. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and cornstarch. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes until fragrant.
  4. Add the green beans to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Pour sauce mixture and water over green beans, stir well, and cook until sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
