Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef with breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, then shape into 6 equal patties, about ¾-inch thick.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the patties in the skillet, cook for 4-5 minutes until browned, then flip and cook another 4-5 minutes until done. Transfer to an oven-proof plate to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add butter and melt it. Whisk in flour and cook for about 7 minutes until golden brown. Add cayenne pepper and extra garlic and onion powder.
- Gradually whisk in milk into the roux, simmer over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
- Return the patties to the skillet and simmer with gravy for 2-3 minutes. Serve warm.

Notes
To maintain moisture, ensure leftover patties are well-covered with gravy when storing. Adjust seasoning of the gravy near the end of cooking for optimal flavor balance.
