Ingredients

For the Dressing
  • 1 large lemon Provides acidity and zest for brightness in the dressing; lime can be substituted for a different citrus flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup Adds sweetness that complements the tanginess of the lemon; honey or agave syrup works as alternatives.
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds Contributes a crunchy texture and unique taste; omit if allergic.
For the Fruit
  • 16 oz strawberries Acts as the base fruit, offering sweetness and juiciness; use ripe, red strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 4 kiwi Adds freshness and vibrant color; cut into half-moons and choose firm but ripe kiwis for optimal texture.
  • 1 whole pineapple Provides tropical flavors and juiciness; fresh is preferred, but drained canned pineapple can substitute.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Start by zesting one lemon directly into a large mixing bowl, then cut the lemon in half and squeeze in the juice, catching any seeds.
  2. To the bowl with lemon juice and zest, add maple syrup and poppy seeds. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  3. Remove the green tops from the strawberries, slice them into quarters, peel and slice the kiwis into half-moons, and core and cube the pineapple.
  4. Gently toss the cut fruits in the bowl with the dressing to coat each piece evenly.
  5. You can serve the salad immediately or refrigerate for later. If serving right away, enjoy within a few hours.
  6. For presentation, serve in a glass bowl or individual cups, possibly sprinkling additional poppy seeds on top.
