For the Pie Crust
  • 1 piece Shortcrust pastry homemade or store-bought
For the Filling
  • 250 g Cottage Cheese can substitute with ricotta
  • 50 g Grated Parmigiano can substitute with Pecorino
  • 1 piece Egg or vegan substitute like flax egg
For the Onions
  • 40 g Pearl Onions approximately 3-4 onions, can substitute with shallots or regular onions
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil or melted butter
  • 1/3 tsp Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper freshly cracked, to taste

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Press the shortcrust pastry into the tart pan and prick the base. Bake for about 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together cottage cheese, egg, grated Parmigiano, and salt until smooth.
  3. Peel and slice the pearl onions, then brush with olive oil on one side.
  4. Once the crust is baked, pour the filling into the crust and arrange the onions on top.
  5. Sprinkle black pepper over the onions and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes until set and golden.
