Preparation Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, fresh herbs, and spices. Mix thoroughly by hand, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- With your hands, form the kofta mixture into elongated patties or meatballs, approximately the size of your palm. Place them on a tray.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the potatoes into thin rounds. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Arrange the kofta on top of the potatoes in the baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- While baking, whisk together tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, and water or olive oil until smooth.
- After the first bake, drizzle the tahini sauce over the kofta and potatoes, then return to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes.
