Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and black pepper until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the large egg with kosher salt and a splash of water to create a smooth mixture.
  3. Prepare a final bowl with panko breadcrumbs for coating.
  4. Grab the soft goat cheese log, slice it into equal portions, and roll each piece into small balls.
  5. Dredge each cheese ball in flour, dip in egg mixture, then roll in panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Place coated cheese balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for about 20 minutes.
  7. Heat grapeseed, canola, or vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep saucepan.
  8. Carefully fry a few cheese balls at a time for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Once fried, drain poppers on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  10. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle minced chives on serving platter before serving.
