- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter until bubbly and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add 1 cup of diced onions and cook for about 3-5 minutes until soft and translucent.
- Pour in 1/2 cup of whiskey, stir and let simmer for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in 1 cup of beef stock and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste, then gradually whisk in 1 cup of heavy cream.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for around 5-7 minutes or until thickened to your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and drizzle over steak, chicken, or pasta, optionally garnishing with fresh herbs.
