Step-by-Step Instructions for Salted Caramel Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of fine sea salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together ¾ cup of softened unsalted butter, ½ cup of granulated sugar, and ¾ cup of dark brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, to the creamed mixture along with 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in 1 cup of caramel chips and ½ cup of optional chocolate chips using a spatula.
- Drop dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart, and sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top.
- Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, looking for lightly golden edges.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using browned butter and chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
