Ingredients

For the Tofu
  • 400 grams Firm Tofu Use firm or extra firm tofu for the best texture.
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch Ensures an even and crispy coating on the tofu cubes.
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil Choose oil with a high smoke point like canola or sunflower oil for frying.
For the Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Honey Substitute with maple syrup or agave nectar for a vegan option.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by draining the firm tofu and wrapping it in a clean towel. Place a heavy object on top and let it press for 15-20 minutes.
  2. After pressing, carefully unwrap the tofu and slice it into uniform bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Whisk until well-blended.
  4. Toss the cubed tofu in a large mixing bowl with cornstarch until each piece is evenly coated.
  5. Heat about 1 cup of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu cubes in batches and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Return the skillet to medium heat and add the prepared honey garlic sauce. Simmer for about one minute and gently toss in the crispy tofu cubes.
