  1. In a medium saucepan, heat 2 cups of almond milk over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. Whisk in 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey and whisk until fully incorporated.
  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom, whisking well.
  5. Sprinkle in a pinch of ground black pepper and whisk again to combine.
  6. Heat on medium-low for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously to meld flavors.
