Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 pound Ground Pork Feel free to swap for ground chicken if you prefer.
  • 2 cups Finely Chopped Cabbage Alternatives include green onions or bok choy.
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce Tamari is a great gluten-free substitute.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger Grated; ground ginger can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Optional for a lighter taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Feel free to use white pepper for a different flavor.
For the Wrapper
  • 1 package Dumpling Wrappers Can be homemade or store-bought.
  • 1/2 cup Water Needed for sealing.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Non-Stick Skillet
  • Spatula

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, finely chopped cabbage, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Take one dumpling wrapper and place it in your palm. Spoon approximately 1 tablespoon of the pork mixture into the center. Lift the edges and pinch to create a half-moon shape.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water and firmly press to ensure a good seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add oil, and place dumplings in the skillet, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Pour in enough water to reach about one-third the height of the dumplings and cover the skillet. Steam for 8-10 minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and let any excess water evaporate. Increase heat to crisp for another 1-2 minutes.
  7. Transfer dumplings to a serving plate and serve with dipping sauces like soy sauce and vinegar.
